-Fit camel through eye of needle.
When you get the rug pulled out from under you, slowly, In one hundred jerks and a major yank. It gives every little thing the opportunity to topple over.
Sawyer's smile means so much to me. His tiny white teeth all in a row like soldiers standing tall against hardship. Each tooth represents 3 to 20 nights in a row of no sleep. Holding each other, both tired, both sad. Now his smile shows our victory. That we made his smile through pain on his part and patience on mine. Each tooth was a little bit different, as pain and patience evolve.
Life evolves gently in its scents, sounds, and seasons. But when it comes to livelihood, lightning can strike in the middle of the night while your eyes are closed. You can wake up in the morning oblivious and unaware, until you look out the window and see your hard work has not been paid off but incinerated. You can find that what looked like miracles in the dark were really just masquerading tragedies and your pennies were tiptoeing out the door before morning light, before you could catch them. Before you could beg them to stay.
It takes strength to smile, but I know I can. Because my teeth are soldiers, my smile is a victory. And livelihood, well, maybe it evolves. Maybe it doesn't. Pain and patience will tell.
